Through the Extended Approval Process, ADA state dental societies and ADA recognized specialty organizations that have been granted ADA CERP recognition are eligible to review their local component societies, and extend recognition to those societies that meet ADA CERP Standards.
The option to extend approval to components is strictly voluntary on the part of state or national specialty societies. Extended approval is limited to local ADA societies (components) and affiliates of ADA recognized specialty societies that offer continuing education primarily to their own members. It does not include local societies that offer CE programs targeting dentists from other states. Eligible local societies retain the option of applying directly to the Commission for national recognition.
